This began in Norway. I was on holiday hiking with a friend. We were walking through a forest looking for a place to sleep. But suddenly the forest stopped. There were no trees anymore. The only thing left was mud with roots sticking out of the ground. There were tracks from the machines so deep you could disappear in them. We climbed through this apocalyptic wasteland. Somewhere in the middle I tripped on something. there was something sticking out of the ground. We pulled on it and started to follow it. It was an 8 meter long iron wire. At first, I was going to leave it, but my friend convinced me to take it with me. I am happy I did because the next day I got a call. It was a friend who asked if I wanted to join his exposition “Tentacle Spectacle”. I immediately knew how to use the wire.
I loved working on this piece. It had a purpose. But once it had fulfilled its purpose there was something off about it. I felt like it wasn’t really finished. Right before I started to write this, I took another look at the Tentacle. And I found it! All this time it was standing because that was convenient. Now it hangs up on the wall and I smile. I guess eventually it always was Wired To Find its purpose.
